We are here!

Just like the Whos, you may not be able to see us, but we are still here!
We've been busy, busy, busy.

Our drummer boy played with the Junior All State band recently.
His conga solo was mind-blowing!

I like this picture he took during rehearsal from his vantage point behind the timpani.

Last week, we spent a lot of time at church with this amazing group of young people from NET Ministries. They were in town to lead several retreats for Confirmation students, and three of the girls stayed with us. We were so blessed to have them here. Their love for God is contagious.

I'm way behind with my quilting and scrapbooking goals, but I'm hoping to catch up soon.

Julia and Pete are home from school today because of the rain and street flooding. This is the first time they've had a Rain Day! This is Rhode Island's rainiest March on record. Julia is getting her money's worth out of her new rain boots!

We were hoping to wrap up the GS cookie sale today, but we can't get to the council office because some bridges and roads are closed. I'm looking forward to moving on.

Have a prayerful Holy Week!

Stick Family

I like this one better than the one I made last year.

Irish, London, Jazz & Jambo

I think a little Irish Chain for St. Patrick's Day is in order.
I think I made this in the early 90's. I wish I had labeled it properly.

It was my first attempt at free-motion machine quilting. If I remember correctly, I marked the shamrocks by tracing around a cookie cutter. Some of them are a little wonky, but not horrible.

Julia and I have been drooling over the Liberty of London Target ads. We tried our best to find something to bring home, but most of the good stuff was already gone by Monday. I was happy to purchase this pretty mug for my morning tea.

Last weekend, we were the road crew for the high school jazz band trip to Berklee College of Music in Boston. The kids sounded great, but confessed it was not their best work. Everyone had fun, though, and enjoyed the evening concert with the winning ensembles.

Julia has become a mother hen to the freshman boys in the band. Here she is with her ducklings who followed her around all day. (Pete will be in the jazz band next year. For now, he's lugging equipment and playing tympani in the symphonic band.)

The First Official Jamboree Patch!
(Reminds me of the First Gift of Christmas in the Polar Express!)

I'm sitting in the SUN! Yay!

Weed Whacker Show & Tell

Bonnie, look at all the Weed Whackers! Aren't they awesome? Everyone loved this pattern. It was the perfect choice for a weekend of stitching and chit-chatting.

Bev, Suzy, & Deloris
(her grandson chose the red background- a wise choice!)

Sue, Rose & Carol

Pat & Norrene
(I love the grays in Pat's and who doesn't love polka dots and stripes!)

Sally, Rosalie & Serafina
(Sally is dressed to match her quilt!)

Barbara, Chris & Lynn
(Isn't the lavender with the 30's prints just perfect?)

Debi, Louise & Jane
(Jane chose this pattern for the workshop when she saw mine at our guild show last October.)
(sorry for the blur)

Jean, Maria and Jackie
(Jean came up from Florida!)

Carole made her weed whacker before she came. It was designed by her 5-year old grandson.

I wonder what we'll make next year!

Getaway 2010

We're here!

Jackie and I finally met in person!
She's so talented and fun and I'm happy to have a new quilting friend!

We're both trying to catch up on the Star Crazy block of the month.
We finished the February block and are moving on to March. Jackie, the overachiever, is working on two quilts at once in different fabrics. Both are gorgeous!

I "taught" a workshop this morning of Bonnie's Weed Whacker pattern (with her permission). I hesitate to use the word taught because the pattern is so easy to follow. I printed out some handouts, reviewed my display board in about 10 minutes, and off they went. I've only needed to answer a few questions all day. It's a great pattern to use up a lot of stash while mindlessly stitching and socializing with friends. FUN!!

About half of the 55 quilters in attendance are working on this project.
The assortment of fabric selections is stunning!

I'll show you more tomorrow. For now, did someone say dinner?

Oh, I almost forgot about the giveaway! I'll tell you about that tomorrow, too!
